Mike Radoor

WANTED: An Elite Video Editor Who Understands How To Make Men STOP SCROLLING

Remote · Content · Full-time

South Africa · US$1,000 / month

Description

Dear Video Editing Weapon,

If you’ve spent the last 30 minutes scrolling through painfully boring job ads saying things like...

“We’re seeking a highly motivated video editor with excellent attention to detail...”

And you’re already considering throwing your laptop through a window...

Because this isn’t one of those jobs.

My name is Mike Radoor.

I run a coaching company helping high-performing men become the man they KNOW they’re capable of being.

And I’m looking for one seriously talented full-time Video Editor in South Africa to work with me and my team.

But there’s something you need to understand.

I DO NOT Need Someone Who Can Just Cut Clips.

Anyone with CapCut and an internet connection can do that.

I’m looking for an editor who can THINK.

Someone who can take hours of me talking...

And immediately recognise:

“That’s the hook.”

“That’s the story.”

“That’s the line that’s going to punch our audience directly in the chest.”

“That 47-second section could become an insane Reel.”

“This needs to become a 12-minute YouTube video.”

“The opening is too slow. Nobody is going to watch this.”

“There’s a better story buried three minutes into this footage.”

That’s the person I’m looking for.

YOUR MISSION

We’re building a serious organic content machine.

The strategy is simple:

ATTENTION → TRUST → YOUTUBE → RELATIONSHIP → CLIENT

Instagram will become a major top-of-funnel attention channel.

YouTube will become the place where that audience goes deeper.

And your responsibility will be helping us turn the mountain of knowledge, conversations, training, footage and ideas already inside this business into content people actually want to consume.

You will edit:

ALL of my short-form content.

And...

ALL of my YouTube long-form content.

Eventually we’ll expand aggressively across more platforms.

But first we want to get extremely good at these two.

HERE’S WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING...

I don’t want to have to tell you:

“Cut from 12:42 to 13:17.”

“Use this sentence as the hook.”

“Put this clip first.”

“Make a Reel about discipline.”

“Turn this section into a piece of content.”

That’s not what I’m hiring you for.

I’ll give you access to the raw material.

I’ll teach you the business.

We’ll educate you obsessively on our ICP.

You’ll learn what these men think about at 2AM.

What frustrates them.

What they’re ashamed to admit.

What pisses them off.

What they want.

What they’ve tried.

Why they’ve failed.

And what finally causes them to change.

Then I want YOU finding the content.

I want you developing an instinct for our market where you hear Mike say something and immediately know:

“Our audience NEEDS to hear that.”

WHO ARE WE TALKING TO?

This matters.

Our audience isn’t a bunch of teenagers looking for motivational quotes.

We speak to high-performing men.

Men who may already be successful externally...

Business.

Career.

Money.

Family.

Status.

Achievement.

But privately, they know something isn’t right.

They know they’re capable of more.

They’ve made promises to themselves and broken them.

They’ve started.

Stopped.

Restarted.

Got disciplined.

Lost it.

Got motivated.

Lost that too.

They can lead businesses, teams and families...

Yet there are areas of their own lives where they can’t seem to lead themselves.

And over time that gap between:

THE MAN EVERYONE ELSE SEES

and

THE MAN THEY KNOW THEY COULD BE

starts eating away at them.

Our work is about changing that.

Identity.

Standards.

Discipline.

Self-trust.

Execution.

Becoming ONE MAN instead of constantly being pulled between the man you say you want to be and the habits that keep creating the old version of you.

If you understand those emotions...

Your edits will become infinitely better.

If you don’t understand the person on the other side of the screen...

Fancy transitions won’t save you.

WE NEED SOMEONE OBSESSED WITH ATTENTION

When you edit a YouTube video, I want you thinking:

Why would someone keep watching this?

When you edit a Reel:

Why would someone stop scrolling here?

When you’re looking through footage:

Where is the emotional tension?

Where does Mike say something unexpected?

Where is the curiosity?

Where is the conflict?

Where is the story?

Where is the moment that makes our ICP think:

“FUCK. He’s talking about me.”

That’s your job.

Not making videos “look nice.”

Making them impossible to ignore.

WHAT YOU’LL ACTUALLY BE DOING

You’ll take raw footage from Mike — long-form recordings, conversations, podcasts, training, talking-head videos and other source material — and turn it into high-performing content.

That means you’ll:

  • Edit long-form YouTube videos from raw footage.
  • Turn long-form content into high-volume short-form content.
  • Independently identify clips instead of waiting for timestamps.
  • Find and build stronger hooks.
  • Remove dead space and anything that kills retention.
  • Restructure footage when the strongest opening is buried later in the recording.
  • Create pace without making everything feel like ADHD editing.
  • Use captions, music, B-roll, graphics, punch-ins, pattern interrupts and sound design when they make the content better.
  • Understand when NOT to use them.
  • Build emotional tension.
  • Improve storytelling.
  • Make complicated ideas easier to understand visually.
  • Keep viewers moving naturally from one idea into the next.
  • Turn one recording into multiple pieces of content.
  • Study our highest-performing videos and determine why they worked.
  • Study videos that flop and determine why they failed.
  • Learn the language and psychology of our ICP.
  • Constantly bring us ideas for better ways of presenting Mike’s message.
  • Stay ahead of editing and content trends without blindly copying every stupid trend on TikTok.
  • Continually improve the quality of our content.

Most importantly...

YOU WILL NOT NEED TO BE SPOON-FED.

THIS ROLE IS PROBABLY NOT FOR YOU IF...

You need someone to give you timestamps for every clip.

You wait for someone else to tell you what the hook should be.

You think adding subtitles makes something “content.”

You believe more transitions = better editing.

You don’t watch YouTube.

You don’t study why certain videos hold attention.

You’ve never looked at an audience-retention graph.

You need five days to edit a Reel.

You disappear when deadlines get tight.

You get defensive about feedback.

You want to clock in, complete a checklist and clock out.

Or...

You need Mike to come up with every idea while you simply operate the editing software.

That’s exactly what we’re trying to get AWAY from.

THE PERSON WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You probably watch content differently from normal people.

While everyone else is watching a video...

You’re noticing the edit.

The first five seconds.

The cut.

The pacing.

Why the creator changed camera angle there.

Why music started there.

Why the editor waited before revealing something.

Why the story suddenly got more interesting.

Why you watched 14 minutes when you only intended to watch two.

You study creators.

You save references.

You steal principles — not content.

You experiment.

You want to understand what makes people watch.

And when someone sends you raw footage...

Your brain immediately starts finding the story inside it.

THAT’S who we want.

SKILLS

You need to be genuinely competent with professional editing software.

We care less about which specific tool you worship and much more about the result.

Premiere Pro.

DaVinci Resolve.

Final Cut.

After Effects.

CapCut.

Whatever.

You should understand:

  • Long-form YouTube editing
  • Short-form social editing
  • Storytelling
  • Pacing
  • Audio
  • Colour
  • Captions
  • B-roll
  • Basic motion graphics
  • Sound design
  • Retention editing
  • File organisation
  • Fast turnaround

But here’s the important distinction:

TECHNICAL EDITING SKILL GETS YOU CONSIDERED.

CREATIVE JUDGMENT GETS YOU HIRED.

EXPERIENCE

I don’t particularly care about your university degree.

I don’t care whether you went to film school.

And I’m not going to hire you because your CV has impressive words on it.

SHOW ME WHAT YOU CAN DO.

If you’ve been editing professionally for years, great.

If you’ve developed ridiculous ability in a shorter period of time, I’m interested too.

What matters is evidence.

Your portfolio should show me that you understand:

Hooks.

Story.

Pacing.

Retention.

Emotion.

Short form.

Long form.

Not just pretty cinematics of someone’s trip to Bali.

WHAT YOU’LL GET FROM US

This is full-time.

We’re looking specifically for someone based in South Africa.

Compensation is:

US$1,000 PER MONTH

You’re not being brought in to edit a handful of random clips.

You’ll become deeply embedded in the content side of this business.

We’ll teach you the audience.

You’ll have access to our messaging.

You’ll understand what we’re building.

You’ll learn what converts.

You’ll learn what resonates.

You’ll see the performance data.

And as the content operation grows, you’ll grow with it.

We’re looking for someone who wants to become dangerously good at this craft, not somebody looking for another temporary freelance client.

BEFORE YOU APPLY

Before you send us anything, spend some time actually studying Mike’s current content.

Look at the hooks. The pacing. The topics. The storytelling. What’s working. What could be better.

Because if you join us, this is the content machine you’re going to help us build.

HERE’S HOW TO APPLY

Do NOT send me a generic CV saying:

“Dear Hiring Manager, I am writing to express my interest in the Video Editor position...”

Please.

Save us both the pain.

Instead, send us:

1. YOUR BEST WORK

Not 47 links.

Give me the 3–5 pieces you’re most proud of.

Include both short-form and long-form examples if you have them.

2. TELL ME WHY THEY’RE GOOD

Don’t just send links.

Tell me what you did.

What editing decisions did you make?

What was the hook?

How did you approach pacing?

What were you trying to make the viewer feel?

3. SHOW ME WHO YOU STUDY

Give me 3 creators/channels whose editing you think is exceptional.

Then tell me why.

Not:

“Because their videos are cool.”

I want to know what you see that other people don’t.

4. ANSWER THIS QUESTION

What makes someone watch the next 10 seconds of a video?

Your answer will tell us a lot.

5. INCLUDE THE WORD “ONE MAN” IN YOUR APPLICATION

Because if you’ve made it this far and somehow can’t follow one simple instruction...

We’re probably not going to work well together.

ONE LAST THING...

We’re not searching for the world’s greatest button-pusher.

We’re looking for someone who could eventually know Mike’s content and audience so well that you can look through raw footage and create something better than what we would have briefed you to make.

Someone who thinks.

Someone who studies.

Someone who experiments.

Someone who understands human attention.

And someone who gives a shit about becoming exceptional.

If that’s you...

WE WANT TO SEE YOUR WORK.

Mike Radoor + Team

Think you’re the one?

Show us the work. Tell us how you think.

Application

Fields marked * are required. Remember to include the word “ONE MAN” somewhere in your answers.

One link per line.

One link per line.

What did you decide? What was the hook? How did you handle pacing? (20 characters minimum)

20 characters minimum.

Be specific. This one matters. (20 characters minimum)

10 characters minimum.
